Teenagers are tempted to use drugs and alcohol because their friends are peer pressuring them to try it or they might do it because they think it’s cool. If someone has a low self-esteem about their selves they might want to drink or smoke but what they’re failing to realize is that their only making the situation worse. Drugs and alcohol can be very addicting and once you try it your going to want more and before you know it your addicted. Becoming addicted makes your body crave the drug and you’ll probably have some side effects if your body doesn’t receive the drug in a certain amount of days. Some severe drugs can also lead to death if someone overdoses on it.
I strongly agree with the comment 13 made because it’s true. Many teens are controlled by media, friends, and peer pressure from their friends. Teens who follow others actions or choices might have low self-esteem and need help so they can follow their own actions. For example under age drinking. Some dangers are the affect to their mood and behavior, is going to mess up their nervous system, the heart can beat so irregularly that it can stop, too little sugar in the body can cause coma and seizures, and the liver can be damaged. To me a drug addict looks worn out, old, crazy, and have no life, but to me they also look like they need help. Even though they look crazy they are still normal people. So don’t treat them any different.(in my opinion)
yo baby yo baby yo. . .
i agree with 13 but in shorter terms, it just makes them feel better, like for that time being that their high or drunk everythings going to be ok && they dont think about the fact that it's still going to be thiere even after that get off that high or drunkness.
peace && chicken grease =]
Many people have Self-esteem. Self-esteem can effect many people, they have low confidence. People with low self-esteem dont go out for any sports because they believe they cant do well in any of the sports they go for. Low self-esteem can also effect peoples social life. Those people think they cant have any friends because they are afraid of other people. Also they dont wont to come out and tell people about there low self-esteem. The reason why is because other people would make fun of the people with low self-esteem. if any comments back I will be glad to answer them.
I think that number 13 is correct. Teenagers are tempted to do drugs or drink or any other bad thing because of their friends. The teenagers that actually listen to their friends must be dumb because they would'nt be realizing what they are doing to themselves, they will only relize that their friends are not making fun of them anymore. The bad thing about the drugs is that you could easily become addicted to them once you try it. When you become addicted your body wants asks for alot of drugs in certain time. You could also die if your body dosent take it and you could also die if you do too much of the drug.
I'm going to comment about the second and third. If you have low self esteem then it’s easier for you to fall in into peer pressure and other things that you wouldn’t normally do also doing alcohol and doing drugs.
For the other question the dangers of drugs and alcohol is that when your under the influence you do the craziest things and on top of that you don’t remember it my mom told me the worst thing is a drunk girl because when you drunk dudes going to see you as an easy target to do what they want with you and be done because you’re not going to remember and there’s also a saying “a drunk men tells no lies”.
The reasons I think teens are tempted to drink alcohol and do drugs for a number of reasons. Most teens think they have to do things like this to fit in and have friends, or so people wont think their a “wuss”. Which I think is totally ridiculous. I don’t think you should do something just to be cool or fit in with a group of people. If those people are really your friends, they’ll accept you for who you are. Not what you do. Peer pressure and self-esteem are definitely connected. A person with low self esteem is more likely to give in to peer pressure than a person with high self-esteem because they feel that in order to be cool; they have to do something for it. Drugs and alcohol can really screw up your life, especially at a young age, and it is something that I don’t plan on doing…ever.
I agree with 13 because as a teen you are tempted to do a lot of things. You may know that what you are doing is wrong but at that moment of time you aren’t thinking. A temptation at a party becomes your first drink or hit, while that later becomes an addiction, While your body then builds up a tolerance and you start something new and or stronger. But when better comes to worse your body can only sustain a certain amount of something that is not natural for you body. That’s when people die end up with aids or they end up with an illness they have to carry on for ever till they pass. Alcohol and drugs are both very dangerous things that you are very capable of saying “NO” to. But sadly some people just don’t want to make that decision or think they cant. So if your ever in a situation think back on this class and the effects of alcohol and drugs.
~“BE TRUE TO THY SELF”~!!!!!!!!!!
I agree with number 13 because what they said about teens being tempted to use drugs is the truth nowadays. Also this person discussed with well details about the side effects of drugs and alcohol abuse and how it can become addicting.
Teens are tempted to use drugs and alcohol because of there peers and with the pressure they put on them. Also they can be tempted to use such things because the media or even by family members and its all about them wanting to fit in.
A connection between peer pressure and low self-esteem is that if you have low self esteem you can easily be pressured to use drugs or alcohol by your peers to fit in and be liked. Alcohol and drugs are both dangerous things that can be deadly. Drugs and alcohol can affect your body and brain in many ways that it can be very addicting and kill you slowly.
Beside the obvious dangers of drugs and alcohol (death) other dangers associated with drugs and alcohol abuses are physical violence, sexually transmitted diseases and etc.
In my opinion sometimes there are people that are drug addicts and you wouldnt even realize it. But on the other hand what I think a drug addict looks like is all torn up. The way I think they act is like shaky when they need the drugs also they tend to be so high on it they are drowsy and they say stupid things and act crazy.
Teenagers are tempted to do drugs because they see their friends do them or even sometimes do it to fit in with a specific group of people. In some cases, it may be because they are going through lots of issues. If a person with low, self-esteem is pressured to do something like drugs or alcohol they will do it. They will give into peer pressure just to make themselves feel good. Some other dangers of being associated with drugs are bad health, problems in life like going to school, just being able to think for them self, and money problems. In some ways, a drug/alcohol addict may look like they just don’t care about themselves and act very stupid and hyper. Other times you cannot even tell who is on what drug or drinking alcohol.
I agree with number 24 because if a person has low self-esteem then they just might do anything to fit in or even make friends
I agree with number 24 because if a person has low self-esteem then they just might do anything to fit in or even make friends
in a way i agree with all you guys but i also think that most teens know that alcohol and drugs are bad for you in many ways and they they should not do it, but they still make dumm decitions and do it anyways. so you guys should not only blame it on the media, and self esteem you should also blame it on the dumm decition making teen have.
I agree with all these comments. But I think that people take drugs and alcohol because they feel like they need to fit in. Since they see other people doing it, they think that it is ok for them to do it. What I think is a big part of people doing this is peer pressure. All these people are going to try to involve you in things that others are doing just because they think its cool and because they want to have a good time. I don’t think this is right but people need to suffer the consequences.
Teenagers are tempted to use drugs and alcohol because they are peer pressured by their friends. Also because they might be curious and want to expirement with drugs and alcohol. People with low self-esteem might abuse drugs and alcohol to get away from their problems. Other dangers with drugs and alcohol are addiction because then after you are addicted it is hard to stop and your body goes through withdrawal. A drug addict can be anyone, no one really looks like a drug addict.
Why are teenagers tempted to use drugs and alcohol? Teenagers are tempted to use drug and alcohol because if the teenager gets peer pressure from their friend then they would do it.
Make a connection between peer pressure / low self-esteem / and alcohol & drug use. If a teenager has a low self- esteem they would want to drink or smoke to try to make their self feel better.
Beside the obvious dangers of drugs and alcohol (death), please discuss other dangers associated with drug and alcohol abuse. If you take drugs and alcohol it people can be addicted if they try it and then they would want more an once they know it, it would be too late for them.
What, in your opinion, does a drug addict look or act like? A drug addict looks like a crazy person, tired, has no life, old, and desperate. But they are still normal people.
On some real everybody basically hit everything right on the head. Teenagers are always influnced to do drugs. Its just the perrn pressure and they can't hadle it. They can also be influenced by their parents. Being around your parents while they're smoking or drinking will make you curious about what they are doing. So just like a teenager they go and try it. They say "Hey my parents did it and their fine." Just by seeing someone else do can highly influence somebody. Just like my grandma say you hang around someone for a while you turn into them.
I think that teenagers are tempted to drink alcohol because sometimes they want to be known and some parents don't care about their kids so their kids they wont know what els to do then drink so that they can keep their minds off the situation. teenagers get addicted for drugs because when they are young they take it and them when they grow up they think about what they have done and try to stop but some cant because they are way too addicted.
What i think a drug addict look like is torn up they wont care of what is happening in the world and in their lives, addicts will do anything when they are on the drug and same thing go for the alcoholics. When teenagers drink they don't care about nothing els but them getting more drinks and more, they cant never get enough ones they are addicted.BUT ONE THING ABOUT THEM IS THAT YOU WILL NEVER KNOW THAT THEY ARE ADDICTS ONES YOU BE AROUND THEM.
...rice n beans...
I think that teenagers are tempted to use drugs because its what their friends are doing and since their friends/peers do it, it creates opportunities where the drugs are easily accessible to them. I think in that situation they feel like "well...i might as well..it wont hurt to try".I think that is a mistake they often make by convincing themselves that they are just going to try it. Little do they know they enjoy it, and eventually becomes a habit turning to addiction.
Alcohol abuse is similar in alot of ways but different also.I think the way alcohol abuse starts with teenagers has to do with the enviroment their in at the time and the kind of people they are around. If their at a party where everyone's drinking and having fun. Their will probably be a high temptation to drink also because it seems "cool" and everyone els who is drinking is having fun. Then i think it just becomes a regular thing whenever your in certain situations.
TEENAGERS ARE TEMPTED TO TRY DRUGS AND ALCOHOL BECAUSE
THEY ARE MOSTLY PEER PRESURED BY THE PEOPLE THEY ARE SURROUNDED BY BECAUSE THEY WANT TO BE ACCEPTED IN WITH THE COOL KIDS AND THEY THINK BY DRINKING THEY MAKE THE OTHERS THINK THEY CAN HANG WITH THEM…ANOTHER THING THAT MAKES PEOPLE TRY DRUGS AND ALCOHOL IS THAT IF THEY ARE HAVEIN PROBLEMS AT HOME WITH THERE PARENTS AND WHEN THEY TAKE THE DRUG THEY FORGET THE PROBLEMS FOR THE TIME THT THEY ARE ON THE DRUG AND THAT MAKES THEM FEEL BETTER THEY ALSO CAN GO TO A BAR AND DRINK IT OFF .. THAT ONLY TAKES THEM SO FAR WITH THE PROBLEMS AND THEY THINK THEY ARE SOLVEING THEM BY GETTING HIGH AND WAISTED BUT THEY ARE REALLY HEARTING THEM SELFS SOME MORE AND THE OTHERS AROUND THEM….
In my opinion, teens are more likely to use or abuse alcohol and, or drugs because of an overbearing feeling of curiosity. Drug and alcohol use is excessively being promoted and advertised continuously almost everywhere you turn. Advertisements are on television, in text messages, and on bill boards. It is almost impossible not be notice it. I also believe peer pressure is another huge contributer to this teen and adolescent epidemic. Teenage years are the most complicated because your hormones are changing rapidly and this is the time where you begin to really realize who you are and choose the people you surround yourself around. Usually these are the years where you make mistakes about who you hang around with so you can classify yourself more. The feeling of wanting to be accepted can really be a dangerous weapon used on yourself and by others. My suggestion is that if yours "friends" cannot accept you for who you are and RESPECT your wishes of rejecting drugs and alcohol, then they should be eliminated from your choice of friends. I also completely understand that in situations as vital as wanting to be excepted, it is always easier said than done. But as you become more like an adult, though they make some bad decisions as well, you have to understand that when you make bad choices YOU have to deal with the consequences. Drugs and alcohol only draw towards that mark, risk after risk you take, the more you play with fire, the higher the chance you will get burned.
I agree with 13 because a big reason why teens use drugs and alcohol is because of peer pressure from there friends, but another reason why they might use drugs is to deal with problems that happen outside of school. A person with low self-esteem doesn’t fit in with people and a person who is being pressured already fits in with people but tries to do stuff to look cooler. Other dangers beside death that happens during drug abuse are that you could get liver damage and you kill brain cells when you do drugs.
I strongly agree with 35. Teenagers are corrupted by substance and drug abuse. We all want to fit the trends and be accepted for who we are. If we see others do it we are more likely to want it. We are easily influenced by our friends, family, and society. We are all human and not perfect. We make mistakes in life and we build upon them. Someone who's exposed to alcohol and drug abuse may not be able to move on with life because they are locked up. What I mean is that they don't want to recieve any help because they feel like they failed. To some teenagers, it may just be an escape from reality in a short amount of time. If you're depressed, teenagers feel that alcohol and drugs is their only cure but it's really not.It makes you feel rebellious and happy. Afterwards, it makes you feel like your nothing and that's why we keep wanting more. It's not the answer. Since we're so young and fragile are body is not quite ready to deal with this stuff but we don't care. In a generalization though not a steriotype. We can't see our insides but if we could, what would you say about all the damage we do to ourselves? In my opinion, everything happens for a reason.
PS.this used to be 105:]
I agree with everything that everybody said but sometimes teenagers tempt to use drugs and alcohol because they see their parents doing it. [and not just because of friends]. They also may go to parties and see their family members and their friends doing it and they way they act while on the drugs or alcohol and may want to act the same way too. Some Dangers of using drugs and alcohol would be unplanned pregnancy because your under the influence you might do things that you normally do. A Drug addict could look normal and act normal I guess it would depend on what stage they were in and how long they’ve been using. You have been using a while then people can start to realize that something is wrong with them and then figure out what drug their addicted to.
The reason why I think kids do drugs is because one, their depressed, two they follow there parents, They do it because they think its cool,or because there friends do it they decide to do it and lastly they probably take it to take care of he or she stress to calm them down. The connection I can make between low- esteem, peer pressure, and drugs and alcohol is peer pressure leads to low - esteem and then the use of alcohol. You might have friends that do this and want you to do it but it's just that they want you to do what they do so they want feel left out. I think drug addict acts alike because they both can do the same damage to you.
i agree with 18 because you said they make dumb decision because someone is influencing them to do it (peer pressure)and i know if they didn't see everyone doing it or they didn't want to fit in so badly then they wouldn't do the stupid things they do
I also agree with 13 because its true that your friends pressure you into drugs and alcohol because they thinks its cool and see it in rap videos and movies. Your self esteem also can make turn to drugs and alcohol be cause a person with low self esteem really doesnt care about themselves or what they do that can effect them in the long run so they do drugs and drugs to think it takes the stress and depression away yes but temporarily. Being addicted to drugs is very awful especially if your young because already a good future is down the drain because you would do anything to get the substance in your body and forget about your education and most likely your family and end up a screw up
I agree with 13 about the drug and alcohal abuse because most of the people that i know do drugs and alcohal because they see older guys drink or smoke so they want to be cool like them and they smoke and drink thinking that they will get respect or people will think that they are cool
I agee with alot of others comments on this subject but, I would have to say that number 35 is right on the money with their answer. We all know that drugs and alcohol can definetly be overwhelming and it some cases it can change that person's life forever whether, its from peer pressure or just from experimenting on your own. Teens who use alcohol can become psychologically dependent upon it to feel good, deal with life, or handle stress. Their bodies may demand more and more to achieve the same kind of high from when the first started. Some teens are also at risk of becoming physically addicted to alcohol. Withdrawal from alcohol can be painful and even life threatening. Symptoms range from shaking, sweating, nausea, anxiety, depression to hallucinations, fever, and so on. To me, a drug addict would look like a very dirt, bad breath, drunk looking person, who has very long hair and worn-out clothes. ~#19 OWNZ ALL~
Some dangers are the affect to their mood and behavior, is going to mess up their nervous system, the heart can beat so irregularly that it can stop, too little sugar in the body can cause coma and seizures, and the liver can be damaged. Teenagers are tempted to use drugs and alcohol because they may see there friends doing it so they think theyd be considered cool if they joined in on drinking and or smoking right along with them. Not only that but the teen who either decides to drink or smoke or both may be under alot of pressure under alot of stress for example say a child's parents had been married for 45 years and after all that time they just got a divorce to take away some of the hardache they might go out and have a smoke or drink and believe it or not it may help them feel alot better i once had a friend who started smoking when his parents got divorced after 25 years she told me it made her feel a whole lot better. Teenagers are tempted to use drugs and alcohol for numerous amounts of reasons. You never know what that person may be going through it may even cause one to stop having suicidal thoughts you never know.
a connection that i think between peer pressure and low self-esteem is that if you have low self esteem you can easily be pressured to use drugs or alcohol by your peers to fit in and be liked. Alcohol and drugs are both dangerous things that can be deadly. Drugs and alcohol can affect your body and brain in many ways that it can be very addicting and kill you slowly.
Drugs are an escape from the realm of reality. people use drugs and alcohol to escape fears, past traumatised events, and problems. Drugs and Alcohol are basically coping skills, but they are not the only ones. There are hundreds of coping skills from drawing to listening to music.
Teenagers are tempted to drink or take drugs because of there surroundings and also how everything these days are influencing teenagers that this stuff is fun. Drugs is no fun because it puts your life on the line. The teenage mind feels like they have to try it or else no one will like them or they wont make more friends. Alcohol is the worst drug teenagers abuse and it will affect them later in life. Peer pressure is the ultimate key because it is so mind struck so addictive that you have to follow along with your friends. It is like a brainwash. Society also takes fault because look what has come upon the tv or online stuff. Everyday it is getting worse and no one is doing nothing about it.
